Tile work for Vancouver’s mix of old and new
Vancouver housing runs from 1910s character homes in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant and Dunbar to glass towers downtown, with Vancouver Specials across the east side and new builds along the Cambie Corridor in between. The tile work is different in each, and after sixteen years in the city we’ve done all of it.
Older homes need substrate correction before anything else. Floors that have settled for a century don’t take large-format tile without preparation, and walls that were never plumb make a bookmatched shower wall look crooked unless the framing is corrected first. We plan that time into the quote instead of discovering it on day two. Condos need tight logistics: strata approval, elevator bookings, common-area protection, and a shower assembly that keeps water out of the unit below. New builds need coordination with the rest of the trades so the tile schedule doesn’t slip.

Most of our Vancouver work is bathroom renovations, from a single ensuite in a Kerrisdale character home to a full wet room in a Point Grey rebuild. Shower tile installation on its own is the next most common call, usually replacing a shower that has started leaking through the ceiling below. Kitchen renovations bring backsplashes in handmade ceramic and porcelain floors that run through to the dining room. Yes, and they're some of our favourite projects. Older homes rarely have flat or plumb substrates, so we budget real time for prep: levelling floors, correcting framing, and building proper substrates before any tile is set.
Can you tile condo bathrooms downtown?
Yes. We handle the practical side of condo work: elevator bookings, strata rules, floor protection in common areas, and containing dust and noise within bylaw hours.
Are you a tile installer or a tile contractor?
Both, depending on the job. We install tile as a trade on renovations run by builders and designers, and we contract complete bathroom and kitchen renovations ourselves, bringing in the plumbing, electrical and glass.
