Kitchens, floors, and the details in between

A lot of our Richmond work happens in kitchens and main-floor living spaces: backsplashes in handmade ceramic and stone, durable porcelain floors, and increasingly the large-format tile that suits the city’s newer housing stock. Heated floors come up often here, and we build those assemblies with proper uncoupling and movement detailing rather than treating the heat as an afterthought.

Richmond’s housing is newer on average than Vancouver’s, but newer doesn’t mean flat. We measure before we set, especially with large-format tile, where every millimetre of substrate variation shows up in the finished surface.

FAQ

Common questions in Richmond.

Do you install tile over heated floors?

Yes. In-floor heat changes the assembly: uncoupling membranes, movement accommodation, and setting materials rated for the temperature cycling. It's a system we install often and gladly.

Can you do a kitchen backsplash as a standalone job?

Yes. Backsplashes are a frequent standalone scope for us, usually a few days from start to grouted finish depending on the tile and layout.

Do newer Richmond homes still need substrate prep?

Usually less than older housing, but yes. New construction has its own issues, like framing that hasn't finished settling and slabs that need flatness checks before large-format tile.
