Custom Tile Installation in Vancouver
Custom tile installation in Vancouver for the work that doesn't come out of a catalogue: bookmatched stone, mitred outside corners, feature walls with a pattern that has to land centred, mosaics, and layouts drawn by a designer that need to be built exactly. This is the work Spartan is known for.

Homes we work in around Vancouver
Vancouver runs from 1910s character homes on the west side to glass towers downtown, with a century of housing in between, and the tile work changes with every decade of construction.
Custom work in character homes in Kitsilano, Mount Pleasant and Dunbar, along with the 1960s and 70s Vancouver Specials across the east side, starts with making the room true. Older homes have walls out of plumb and floors out of level, and a bookmatched wall or a geometric pattern shows every inch of that. We correct the substrate first, then set out the layout on paper so the pattern lands where the eye expects it.
New builds along the Cambie Corridor, laneway houses, and the rebuilt lots in Dunbar and Kerrisdale are where most of our slab and large-format custom work happens: full-height bookmatched porcelain, marble slab showers with mitred niches, and floors that run continuous across the main level. The architecture leaves nowhere to hide a bad line, which is exactly why we get the call.
In the downtown and Yaletown towers and the older wood-frame condos in Kitsilano and Fairview, custom tile is usually a single statement: a feature wall, a slab shower, a mosaic floor in a powder room. We bring the same layout discipline at that scale, and handle the building logistics that come with working in a strata.

FAQ
Common questions in Vancouver.
What counts as custom tile work?
Anything where the layout has to be resolved before the first cut: bookmatching, a pattern that needs to centre on a fixture, mitred edges, mixed materials, or a designer drawing with dimensions on it. If the tile has to land in a specific place, it's custom.
Can you work from my designer's drawings in Vancouver?
Yes, and it's our preferred way to start. Resolved drawings mean we can plan the layout, the cuts and the transitions before the tile arrives. We'll flag anything on the drawing that the material or the room can't actually do, before it becomes a problem on site.
Is custom tile installation more expensive?
The material is usually the bigger difference. Labour runs higher too, because layout, cutting and setting take longer and the tile is often too expensive to waste. We price it after seeing the drawings and the room, and we'll tell you where the money is going.
